HOSPO Health was launched in late 2022 as a direct response to the challenges faced by Tasmania’s hospitality industry during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. Recognising that true recovery required more than financial support, Tasmanian Hospitality Association CEO Steve Old led the charge to create a dedicated, industry-wide wellbeing initiative – free and accessible to everyone in the sector, not just THA members.
Since then, HOSPO Health has delivered tailored, practical resources to support the mental, physical, social, occupational, and financial wellbeing of hospitality workers and business owners across the state. From podcasts to fact sheets, videos to workplace tools – HOSPO Health has been built for the industry, by the industry.
So when the State Government released its Discussion Paper on Healthy, Active Tasmania – 20-Year Preventive Health Strategy 2026-2046 we knew the voice of hospitality needed to be heard.
This video is Steve’s response to the strategy discussion paper, why it matters for our sector, and how the work we’ve started through HOSPO Health, and the learnings we have gained, can contribute to a healthier, more resilient future for all Tasmanians.
